Individuals from the Gordon County Antique Tractor and Engine Club will be showing their tractors. Kids will be able to a ride on a barrel train\, visit a petting zoo\, and participate in other fun games and crafts. \n\n\n\nIncluded as part of this year's event is the "Barns of Bartow County" photography exhibit opening. Visit the temporary exhibit of photographs featuring images of barns of Bartow County provided by members of the Booth Photography Guild. Maxine will also share information about what can be made with their milk. \n\n \n\nFall Vegetable Gardening - 11:00 a.m. \n\nPaul Pugliese\, MPPPM\, UGA Extension - Bartow County\, County Coordinator\, will talk about fall vegetable gardening. \n\n \n\nIn Georgia\, it can be very challenging to get cool-season vegetables started at the end of summer. This seminar will give you the basics on starting fall and winter vegetables from seeds or transplants\, proper timing\, fertilization\, and care. Popular cool-season vegetables include beets\, carrots\, lettuce\, mustard\, kale\, English peas\, radishes\, spinach\, Swiss chard\, and turnips. Native fruits that are not commercially cultivated include elderberry\, serviceberry\, gooseberry\, mayhaw\, red mulberry\, pawpaw\, and persimmon. Other native fruits that are grown commercially include blueberry\, blackberry\, raspberry\, and muscadine grapes. \n\n \n\nPugliese hopes to introduce his audience to the many diverse native fruits that can grow in Georgia. Because some are not readily available at the local grocery store\, it can be fun and enjoyable to grow something different in your garden. Native fruit species are generally lower maintenance than non-native fruits such as peaches\, apples\, and pears.
