Church Street\, Cartersville\, GA 30120\n\n\n\nThe Bartow History Museum welcomes Jeff Bishop\, a public historian and director of Reinhardt University's Funk Heritage Center in Waleska\, Georgia as speaker for our Lunch and Learn program on May 15\, 2019 at 12 p.m. The title of his talk is Women and Men: Gender Roles in Traditional Cherokee Society. Participants will learn about the Cherokee concept of "balance" and how that applied to traditional gender roles. In addition\, Bishop will explore the differences of living within a matrilineal society. Lastly\, participants will learn about the Cherokee mother of corn\, Selu\, and the importance of corn in traditional native cultures\, as well as its continued importance today.
