SUMMARY:Bartow History Museum Lunch & Learn: Thunder at Chickamauga
DESCRIPTION:Thunder at Chickamauga\n\n\n\nOne hundred and fifty years after North and South clashed in the second bloodiest battle in our nation's long history\, the forests\, fields\, and hills of Chickamauga Battlefield are so peaceful that some visitors overlook the fact that more than 35\,000 men were captured\, wounded\, or died on this ground. On Wednesday\, September 18\, 2013 from noon until 1:00 p.m.\, Bartow History Museum welcomes guest speaker and editor of Georgia Backroads magazine\, Dan Roper\, who will discuss the Battle of Chickamauga. \n\n\n\nRemembering the soldiers shrouded in smoke\, thunder\, and death\, the staff at Georgia Backroads magazine selected five battlefield locations and events as illustrative of the drama\, valor\, and immense loss played out on this ground. From those five locations\, Mr. Roper will focus on Northwest Georgia's famous Battle of Chickamauga- which recognizes its 150th anniversary from September 19th-20th.\n\n\n\nLunch and Learn will take place at the Bartow History Museum located at 4 E. Church Street in downtown Cartersville. Parking is available next to the building. The lecture is free to members and included with the price of admission for not-yet members. Guests are invited to bring a lunch beginning at 11:45 a.m.\, and the program will begin at noon. For more information on this and other BHM programs\, call 770-382-3818\, ext. 6288 or visit our website at www.bartowhistorymuseum.org.
