DESCRIPTION:World War I Lecture Opens New World War I Temporary Exhibit\n\nat the Bartow History Museum\n\n\n\nOn Wednesday\, November 15 at noon as part of the Lunch and Learn series\, the Bartow History Museum will have a lecture on World War I which accompanies the opening the new World War I temporary exhibit. Kyle Russell\, Past President and current Vice President of the 6th Calvary Museum in Ft. Oglethorpe\, will present an overview of WWI including the entrance of America into the war\, the role of the cavalry\, and the impact of the war on the world today. Also\, artist John Cleaveland will discuss some of his paintings of the modern day landscapes of France\, where once a battle ensued. Cleaveland is currently undertaking his largest landscape project to date which is a visual retrospective of WWI battlefields. " So much of what has happened in the modern era is a direct outcome of WWI. The paintings I am making are memorials in a way   tied to specific time\, places and men. Hopefully my paintings will continue to remind viewers of these events long after I have painted them."\, says Cleaveland.\n\n\n\nVisit the new temporary exhibit and view items from Russell's personal collection of war time artifacts as well as items from the Bartow History Museum collection\, and the collection of Tom Bailey. Learn about some of the locals who served their country during the war.\n\n\n\nThe lecture is free for members of the museum and included in the price of admission for non-members.\n\n\n\nThe Bartow History Museum is located in downtown Cartersville at 4 E Church Street\, under the bridge.
