SUMMARY:Be the Match Marrow Donor Registry Drive
DESCRIPTION:Be involved. Transplant hope.\n\nJoin the Be The Match Registry.\n\n\n\nPatients need you! For thousands of blood cancers like leukemia or other diseases like sickle cell anemia\, a marrow transplant is their only hope for life. If you have diverse ancestry\, patients especially need you because they are most likely to match someone who shares their heritage.\n\n\n\nBe The Match for Kendall\n\nMarrow Donor Registry Drive\, Ages 18 to 44\n\n\n\nSaturday\, January 28\, 2017\n\n1:00 PM - 4:00 PM\n\nCartersville Public Library\n\n429 West Main Street\n\nCartersville\, GA 30120\n\n\n\nPaperwork\, a cheek swab\, and 15 minutes of your time are all that's required to join.\n\n\n\nIf you are unable to attend\, join online at:\n\nhttps://join.bethematch.org/KendallWomack\n\n \n\nMeet Kendall\n\nIn August 2016\, 20-year-old Kendall Brooke Womack began her 1st semester of nursing school at Shorter University. After several months of being sick\, Kendall was diagnosed with Mono-MAC\, a very rare genetic disease\, on January 17\, 2017. Her disease will turn into leukemia if left untreated. Now\, Kendall's best hope for a cure is a marrow transplant\, but first\, she must find a matching marrow donor. By not having a matching marrow donor in her family\, Kendall currently does not have the option of receiving a potentially life-saving marrow transplant. Please join the marrow donor registry to see if you can be the cure for Kendall or another patient like her.\n\n\n\nContact info:\n\nRod Gunn\n\nrgunn@nmdp.org\n\n770-330-1590\n\n\n\nDid you know?\n\n	Most often being a donor is like giving plasma.\n	Only 1 out of every 540 people on the marrow donor registry is ever called to donate.\n	70% of patients will not match a family member.\n	You could be someone's cure to blood cancer.
