SUMMARY:Behavior-Based Safety
DESCRIPTION:Despite OSHA regulations regarding safety policies and procedures being posted in nearly every workplace\, close calls\, serious injuries\, and deaths resulting from unsafe work behaviors still occur. While much attention has been paid to designing equipment and processes to minimize hazards\, one important factor that is often overlooked is the human factor. The Behavior-Based Safety Leadership workshop focuses on this human element\, looking at personal characteristics related to people's behaviors while performing their jobs. Participants will learn what these characteristics are\, how they can assess team members' tendencies toward work safety\, and how to communicate with teams to promote a culture of safety in the workplace. Learning Objectives:\n\n* Appreciate the human element in maintaining a safer work environment.\n\n* Understand the personal characteristics that predict safe or unsafe work behaviors.\n\n* Learn to assess these characteristics as they relate to each team member.\n\n* Evaluate each team member's style to reduce recordable events.\n\n* Communicate safe work practices in a clear way that motivates people to work more safely.\n\n* Learn to establish a strong culture of safety in the workplace.\n\n\n\nThis workshop is offered in three 4-hour sessions\, 9am-1pm\, for a total of 12 hours.\n\nOctober 3\, Module I: Making the Case for a Behavior-Based Safety Approach\n\nOctober 31\, Module II: Encouraging a Safety Mindset\n\nNovember 9\, Module III: The 4C model-Communicate\, Change\, Coach\, with Credibility
