DESCRIPTION:The Burning of Cassville\n\n\n\nOn Thursday\, October 25\, at 7:00 p.m.\, Bartow History Museum welcomes guest speaker and local historian\, Dale Black.  Mr. Black\, a member of the Cassville Historical Society and Sons of Confederate Veterans (Stiles-Akin Camp)\, will discuss the burning of Cassville\, Georgia during the occupation of Atlanta by the Union troops.\n\n\n\nIt was on November 5\, 1864 when the city of Cassville was destroyed by fire at the hands of the Fifth Ohio Regiment of the Federal Army under the command of Colonel Heath and Major Thomas.  Only churches and three residents were left untouched.   Mr. Black will also discuss how the city of Cassville commemorates this anniversary each year. \n\n\n\nEvening Lecture will take place at the Bartow History Museumlocated at 4 E. Church Street in downtown Cartersville.  Parking is available next to the building.  The lecture is free to members and included with the price of admission for not-yet members.
