DESCRIPTION:Award-winning Classical Guitarist Peter Fletcher returns to Cartersville\, performing a diverse program of music from four centuries.\n\n	\n\n	Monday\, July 23\, 2012\n\n	7:00 pm\n\n	\n\n	St. Francis of Assisi Church\n\n	850 Douthit Ferry Road\, Cartersville\, GA\n\n	\n\n	Free and Open to the Public!\n\n	\n\n	Contact 770-382-4549 for more information.\n\n	 \n\n\nHIGHLIGHTS: This concert will be part of Peter Fletcher s national tour. Audience friendly repertoire will include Jesu\, Joy of Man's Desiring from Cantata No. 147 as well as the Chaconne in D minor by J. S. Bach\; two works from Maurice Ravel's exquisite Mother Goose Suite\; Francisco Tarrega's ever popular Recuerdos de la Alhambra\; two exciting crowd pleasers by Spanish composer Joaquin Turina\; Grieg's Chanson de Solveig from Peer Gynt\; and music of Praetorius\, Ponce and Reusner.\n\nThe program will culminate with Koyunbaba\, by composer/guitarist Carlo Domeniconi. This is one of the most unique and exciting works in the classical guitar repertoire.\n\n\n\nPeter lives in New York City\, but was born in Atlanta\, GA. In 1986 he performed in Cartersville under the auspices of The Etowah Creative Arts Council as a guest performer for  Fandango. \n\n\n\nWrote Steven Rings of The American Record Guide: "He has a strong technique\, a consistent tone\, and a strong interpretive imagination."\n\nProclaimed Peter Burwasser of Fanfare Magazine: "Fletcher plays it all with a gracious virtuosity that makes for a very pleasing hour plus of unaffected musical poetry."\n\n\n\nThis concert promises to be an accessible way to enjoy the beauty of classical guitar.
