DESCRIPTION:The Bartow History Museum invites visitors to explore the origins of constitutional justice in North Georgia through a program examining the formation of the Cherokee Judicial Circuit. One of the oldest judicial circuits in Georgia\, the Cherokee Judicial Circuit   now encompassing Bartow and Gordon Counties   was established in 1832. At its creation\, the circuit covered a vast region that had once been the Cherokee Nation. This program explores the dramatic transition that followed as Georgia asserted sovereignty over the area and began establishing a structured system of law and order\, replacing earlier forms of frontier justice.
