DESCRIPTION:What happens when plants from outside Georgia or even outside the U.S. take up residence in our land? Learn about the impact of invasive plant species on ecosystems in Georgia and why it's important for you to promote our native species   for our sake as well as theirs.\n\n\n\nThe program will feature Dr. Julie Newell of Kennesaw State University with presentations at 10:30 am\, 11:30 am & 12:30 pm.\n\n\n\nIn addition to her classes and administrative duties at KSU\, Dr. Newell is a Certified Master Naturalist through the UGA Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources. She also has a Certificate in Native Plants from UGA and is the former education chair of the Georgia Native Plant Society and a member of the Georgia Botanical Society. Dr. Newell has made numerous presentations to both adults and school children on invasive species and the benefits of native plants. \nThe Preserve will be open 10 am   5 pm for hiking on your own\; a fun craft & interactive educational materials are available for kids ages 3-11.\n\nAdmission is $3 per person/max $10 per family or FREE to members and includes parking & hiking.\n\nVisitors may hike one of the Preserve's three trails that range in length from a stroll of .25 mi to a 1.7 mi loop trail around the lake. Leashed dogs are welcome\, but the trails do not accommodate strollers. Please arrive no later than 4 pm so you will have time to finish your hike before we close.\n\nDirections: We are located off Douthit Bridge Rd\, accessed only from Hwy 61 (between Cartersville & Dallas). Since our location is off the beaten path\, many map programs do NOT provide accurate directions. Use the info on our Contact Us page. \n\nOr for GPS\, use "Douthit Bridge Rd\, Dallas\, 30132"\, then follow signs.
