She preformed in pre-vaudeville acts in which the young women performed feats of strength\, usually pitted against men.\n\n\n\nAmong other points of interest\, Dickson's research finds that Mattie Price was raised in Stilesboro. Her stage act eventually toured throughout the United States and Europe. Her career included performing in shows that featured Harry Houdini.
