Click here for more information.\n\n\n\nReinhardt University Opera: The Sound of Music\n\n\n\nMarch 13 & 14 at 7:30 PM\n\nMarch 15 at 3 PM\n\n\n\nFalany Performing Arts Center\, Flint Hall\n\nReinhardt University\, 7300 Reinhardt Circle\, Waleska\, GA 30183\n\n\n\nRogers and Hammerstein's classic musical\, "The Sound of Music\," ushers in the spring at Reinhardt University.\n\n\n\nThe beloved musical story of Maria and the von Trapp Family will be performed by Reinhardt University Opera students March 13-14 at 7:30 p.m. and March 15 at 3 p.m.\n\n\n\nGeorgia's high country will come alive as opera students perform iconic songs such as "My Favorite Things\," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" and "Do-Re-Mi." \n\n"'The Sound of Music' provides a wonderful opportunity for the gifted singers in our opera program to branch out with a Golden Age musical\," said Dr. Fredrick Tarrant\, dean of the School of Performing Arts. "As one of the most popular musicals of all time\, it will be a delight for audiences of all ages." \n\nThe Broadway production premiered in 1959 and won five Tony Awards including Best Musical.  It was adapted as a 1965 film musical and won five Academy Awards.   \n\n\n\n"The Sound of Music" enjoyed extraordinary success as the first live television production of a musical in over 50 years when "The Sound of Music Live!" aired in NBC in 2013 and was seen by over 44 million people. 2015 marked the 50th anniversary of the film version\, which continues to be the most successful movie musical in history.  \n\n\n\nTickets are $12.50 for all seats and can be purchased at Reinhardt.edu/falany or by calling the box office at 770-720-9167. \n\n\n\nThe University Opera program at Reinhardt University develops and prepares students for professional roles in opera. Students undergo demanding training to develop their voices for this career. The performance will take place in Flint Hall at the Falany Performing Arts Center.
