DESCRIPTION:BARTOW HISTORY MUSEUM JOINS SMITHSONIAN MAGAZINE'S\n\n14TH ANNUAL MUSEUM DAY LIVE!\n\nFree Admission on September 22\, 2018\n\nWith a downloadable Museum Day ticket\n\n\n\nThe Bartow History Museum will open its doors free of charge to all Museum Day ticketholders on Saturday September 22\, 2018 as part of Smithsonian magazine's 14th annual Museum Day\, a national celebration of boundless curiosity in which participating museums emulate the free admission policy at the Smithsonian Institution's Washington DC-based museums.\n\n\n\nMuseum Day represents a nationwide commitment to access\, equity and inclusion. Over 250\,000 people downloaded tickets for last year's event\, and Museum Day 2018 is expected to attract more museumgoers than ever before.\n\n\n\nThe theme of this year's Museum Day is Women Making History\, honoring women in society who are trailblazers in the arts\, sciences\, innovation and culture\, and emboldening others to be pioneers as well.\n\n\n\n"We are excited to share our museum with the community\," says Trey Gaines\, Bartow History Museum Director. The Bartow History Museum\, located at 4 East Church Street in downtown Cartersville\, Georgia\, documents the history of northwest Georgia's Bartow County\, spanning more than 200 years since the Cherokee were the area's primary residents. Artifacts\, photographs\, documents\, and a variety of interactive permanent exhibits tell the story of settlement\, Cherokee life and removal\, Civil War strife\, and lifestyles of years past. The Bartow History Museum also provides a variety of educational opportunities for adults\, children\, families\, and school groups. Our extensive archives and research library contains photographs\, documents\, newspapers\, rare books\, genealogy records\, oral history interviews\, and more. "While at the museum learn about women who have impacted our history\," states Gaines.\n\n\n\nMuseum Day tickets are available for download at the Smithsonian.com/MuseumDay.
