Women in the Civil War: Nurses, Spies and Soldiers
Hundreds of women served as nurses, spies and soldiers during the Civil War leaving behind famous names and legacies such as Hariett Tubman, Clara Barton, Belle Boyd, and Sarah Edmonds. On Wednesday, March 20, 2013 from noon until 1:00 p.m., Bartow History Museum welcomes Dr. John Fowler, Director of the Bandy Heritage Center of Northwest Georgia for Dalton State College. Dr. Fowler will discuss the roles of these brave women who served during the Civil War as nurses, spies, and soldiers.
Lunch and Learn lecture will take place at the Bartow History Museum located at 4 E. Church Street in downtown Cartersville. Parking is available next to the building. The lecture is free to members and included with the price of admission for not-yet members. Guests are invited to bring a lunch beginning at 11:45 a.m., and the program will begin at noon.
