Cartersville-Bartow Chamber to Host Blood Assurance Blood Drive: Urgent Need of Local Blood Supply

The Cartersville-Bartow Chamber of Commerce has responded to the urgent need of the local blood supply by hosting a Blood Assurance drive on Wednesday, June 12 from 8a.m. - Noon. The Cartersville-Bartow Chamber is located at 122 W. Main Street. Donors can make appointments to give by texting BAGIVE to 444999 or going online to www.bloodassurance.org/chamber. Appointments are not necessary, and walk-ups are welcome.
 

The local blood supply is at urgent levels, less than a three day supply, in most all blood types. The summer is historically a low time for collections and a high time for usage. The community is needed to help make up this deficit. As the sole provider of blood and blood products for Cartersville Medical Center, as well as Floyd Medical Center, Redmond Regional Medical Center, and AdventHealth Gordon, every donation made with Blood Assurance stays local and helps the patients in the Cartersville-Bartow County community.
 

Blood donors must be 18 years of age to donate, 16 or 17 with parental consent, weigh at least 110 lbs, and be in general good health. For more information and tips on donating blood, please visit www.bloodassurance.org.
 

All donors will receive a complimentary t-shirt, and donors 18+ will be entered to win a Kamado Joe Jr. grill. CASS High School and Woodland High School students have the opportunity to earn double points toward their Cord of Courage, a Blood Assurance program to recognize graduating senior's commitment to blood donation.
