Join the Bartow History Museum for the Historic Cemetery Preservation Workshop, a hands-on program designed for community members, history enthusiasts, genealogists, and preservation advocates interested in protecting Bartow County's historic cemeteries. Led by preservationist Paige Jennings, this workshop explores the history and significance of historic cemeteries while teaching participants practical techniques for the proper care and preservation of historic headstones and markers. The program begins at the Bartow History Museum, where Jennings will discuss the cultural importance of cemeteries, common causes of monument deterioration, and preservation methods that help protect these irreplaceable landmarks. Participants will then travel to Puckett Cemetery in Emerson for an on-site demonstration and hands-on instruction in proper headstone cleaning and maintenance techniques. Historic cemeteries preserve the stories of the people, communities, and events that shaped our past. Through this educational workshop, participants will gain valuable preservation skills while helping ensure these meaningful places remain protected for future generations. Whether you are interested in genealogy, local history, historic preservation, or simply want to learn how to care for these important community landmarks, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to connect with history through hands-on learning.
