Join the Bartow History Museum for a Lunch & Learn with Brett Bannor, who explores America’s unexpected history through sheep. Drawing from his book American Sheep: A Cultural History, Bannor reveals how sheep influenced the United States in surprising ways - from wool shortages and wartime crises to meat production, industry, and even lawn maintenance. He connects sheep to major historical topics such as slavery, industrialization, taxation, conservation, and labor relations, all brought to life through his engaging storytelling. About Brett Bannor Brett Bannor manages the Animal Collections at the Atlanta History Center, caring for the institution’s domestic animals, including sheep. He has also authored several articles on natural and cultural history. Bring your lunch and enjoy a fascinating hour of history, culture, and unexpected connections!
