On Wednesday, February 15th, at 12 p.m., the Bartow History Museum welcomes Johnny Mitchell of Johnny Mitchell’s Smokehouse as he shares, Time Honored Traditions for Meat Preservation: Smoking and Curing. According to Trey Gaines, Director of the Museum, “We are excited to offer this educational and tasty program.” Free samples will be available for tasting. About the Speaker
Johnny Mitchell, serving Bartow County and beyond for 36 years, is now located at the beautiful location inside West End Commons Shopping Center in Cartersville. Born in Atlanta, Johnny moved with his family to Bartow, graduating from Cass High. He followed his family's talents both in trucking and cooking, started a catering company and eventually leaving his management position to cook full time.

His ability to create delicious cuisine keeps him in high demand for an international clientele but he is most renowned for his smoked meats...BBQ! From humble beginnings at the Cartersville Farmer's Market, then assisting with the first BBQ competitions in Bartow, he entered the world of Professional BBQ Competition.

After ten years successfully competing in the KCBS (Kansas City Barbeque Society) BBQ circuit, Johnny finally decided to retire, to put more focus on his successful restaurant, Johnny Mitchell's Smokehouse, where his diverse talent is showcased daily.
