WHAT: During January, we will place a strategic focus on building an accepting culture at work.
WHY: All employees want to feel they belong in the workplace. Creating a sense of belonging results in greater on-the-job effort and higher employee performance. To build a sense of belonging, we must eliminate "outsiderness" and demonstrate care based on a person's worth, not simply their performance.
According to GreatPlacetoWork.com, employees who experience belonging in the workplace are:
- Three times more likely to look forward to coming to work.
- Nine times more likely to believe people are treated fairly.
- Five times more likely to want to stay at their company a long time.
WHO: Business and organizational leaders who want to increase the motivation and productivity of those they serve.
