Eagle Scout Project Blood Drive

Description

Hello! My name is Carson Pope. I am currently a Life Scout in Troop 24 out of Dellinger Park in Cartersville, Georgia. For my Eagle Project, I am organizing a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross on June 28th at Atco Baptist Church, 20 Parmenter Street, Cartersville, Ga 30120. In addition to that, I am also asking for canned food donations to support the food pantry at New Life Community Church in Acworth, Georgia. I chose this project because in March of 2024, my mother was diagnosed with stage 3 multiple myeloma, a blood cancer. She has had to have several blood and platelet transfusions that wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for blood donors. The American Red Cross needs at least 29,000 pints of blood daily, which may seem small, but isn't when looking at the impact it has on lives and families. Out of the 38% of Americans eligible to donate, only 3% of that number actually donates. My goal for this project is to raise awareness and to collect at least 100 donations.
