Description
Join history enthusiast Lawrence Jones to explore the life and legacy of Horace King, renowned 19th century bridgebuilder. Lawrence brings his presentation to life with the use of period dress, lantern light, and a vivid display showing the tools that early bridgebuilders, like King, used. You won't want to miss this fascinating journey into the past.
"There were bridgebuilders here in the Deep South during the 19th century, but not many. If you needed a good, sturdy bridge built, or some other type of structure built with quality workmanship, then you could find no one more capable than Horace King. Horace was a slave from South Carolina who made a lasting name for himself building structures across 4 states. As a family man, he instilled a regard for quality of workmanship in all of his sons. The story of Horace King is a fascinating one. So come along, and take a step back in time!" -- Lawrence Jones
