The Department:
The Shorter University College of Business offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in the following concentrations: Computer Information Systems, General Business, Accounting, Management, Marketing, and Sport Management. Graduate degrees include an MBA, MBA with concentrations in Healthcare Management as well as Sport Management along with a Master of Accountancy, Master of Management, and a Master of Management with a concentration in Non-Profit Human Services. The Business Administration department also offers a minor for Shorter students seeking a major in another academic area, which includes Economics, Accounting, General Business, Management, Marketing, Business Law, and Sport Management. The College of Business is the largest academic college at Shorter University and is heavily involved in the Rome-Floyd Communities as well as the Northwest region of the state. The General Business major is the largest major within the BBA degree. This position will be an integral part of the BBA core and potentially MBA core course offerings.
Job Summary:
The Shorter University Ledbetter College of Business Department of Business Administration invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in General Business with a start date of August 2026.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, online and traditional, across the General Business curriculum. The successful candidate should have broad credentials to cover Business at the undergraduate and potentially graduate levels. Practical experience is also preferred for individuals who can convey experiences into the classroom model. This individual will be a key constituent in the community and be involved in local business organizations and the local Chamber.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
- Terminal Degree in Business or management (DBA/PhD)
- Practical work experience that will elevate academic instruction in the classroom.
- Visionary leadership skills aiming towards the growth of the College of Business and recruitment of General Business majors.
- Experience in undergraduate and graduate teaching at the college level.
- Experience with online teaching, preferably in the Canvas delivery system
- Advising college students through their degree plan to graduation
