Vice President for University Advancement
 
The Vice President for University Advancement provides strategic leadership and vision for all advancement functions at Shorter University, including fundraising, donor relations, alumni engagement, grants development, and external relations. Serving as the University’s chief advancement officer, this position advances the Christ-centered mission of Shorter University by cultivating relationships, securing philanthropic support, and strengthening partnerships that ensure the University’s long-term excellence and sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership in planning and implementing a successful program for University Advancement in resource activities, external relations, and alumni affairs
  • Develops ongoing relationships with existing donors.
  • Solicits major gifts for the financial advancement of the University.
  • Coordinates all fundraising activities for the University, implementing the annual fund and all capital fundraising.
  • Coordinates with other members of the President’s Council on fundraising efforts.
  • Provides monthly reports to the President’s Council on University fundraising efforts.
  • Attends public events germane to University Advancement.
  • Develop and implement a sustainable grants program.
  • Develop and implement approved strategic and operational plans in coordination with the University’s overall strategic plan.
  • Serves as a member of the President’s Council and reports directly to the President.
  • Develops community relationships/partnerships for the University.
  • Serves as the chief fundraiser of the President’s Gala.
  • Cultivates new donors who have a shared vision with Shorter University.
  • Expand relationships with alumni donors.
  • Engage with Shorter University parents to develop a strong parent donor base.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or higher.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in university advancement, fundraising, or nonprofit development.
  • Proven success in donor cultivation, major gift solicitation, and relationship management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership, faculty, alumni, donors, community partners, and faith-based constituencies.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the mission, values, and Christian identity of Shorter University.
