JOB TITLE: Key Accounts Representative

DEPARTMENT: Electric, City of Cartersville

JOB SUMMARY: Works as the primary liaison between Cartersville Electric System and its major industrial and commercial customers (Key Accounts) for business and operational matters related to the cost of electricity, load and energy management programs and power quality and reliability concerns. Additionally, this position is responsible for demonstrating a strong commitment to building positive relations with the local community, elected officials, not-for-profit organizations and other key stakeholders.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Seeks to secure Electric Utility Customer Choice industrial and commercial loads
  • Develop proposals and conducts presentations for prospective customers, City Council and Management
  • Participates in the design, implementation and administration of electric rates
  • Assists industrial/commercial clients in understanding the components of their rate and bill
  • Provide a single point of contact for assigned Key Accounts to communicate with Cartersville Electric System on all electricity and service-related issues. The expectation is that the incumbent will be available to Key Accounts beyond routine business hours to address service concerns
  • Assist Director and other staff with special projects as assigned
  • Assists City, County and State Economic Development Departments
  • Coordinates with and provides support to Public Relations and Key Accounts Supervisor
  • Coordinates special events and supports the Department’s volunteer initiative
  • Responds to and tracks complaints and critical correspondence from stakeholders including elected officials, community boards and customers
  • Monitors and reports on regional and local development issues that may impact the Cartersville Electric System
  • Assists with Key Account bill and memo creation, ensure compliance with incentive-related requirements, tracks consumption and demand and reviews billing accuracy
  • Coordinates requested energy audits and/or power quality audits for large industrial/commercial customers
  • Establishes and maintains professional relationships with industrial/commercial developers, architects, and engineers to maintain rapport, track active projects and acquire new accounts
  • Coordinates industrial/commercial customers’ needs with other departments for timely and adequate customer service
  • Manages the Cartersville Electric System Rebate Program
  • Maintains a current knowledge of Customer Choice activities and strategies of other utilities
  • Accurately interprets legislation and Public Service Commission actions related to Electric Utilities, Customer Choice and Territories
  • Provide accurate and timely intelligence regarding Key Accounts' plans related to energy consumption and use, opinions about rate options and tariffs, service needs, and overall opinion about Cartersville Electric System. Key Account load data will be particularly important for Cartersville Electric System planning purposes, as well as Key Account industry trends
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge about issues, rates, and service requirements and broker timely and effective responses to Key Accounts issues and questions about electric service and related economic issues. This accountability includes an understanding of the Key Accounts business issues that are affected by Cartersville Electric System service requirements, rates, tariffs and riders.
  • Participate in community and professional activities to increase visibility for the Cartersville Electric System and enhance knowledge of potential projects
  • Engage Key Accounts proactively to convey information or suggest improvements that benefit Cartersville Electric System and/or the Key Accounts when data, information, and experience make it possible to do so
  • Identifies, assesses, and evaluates opportunities for external partnerships on an on-going basis and adjusts strategies and tactics accordingly. Build relationships with key influential and thought leaders to promote and advocate Cartersville Electric System positions
  • Oversee the development and management of major community engagement programs, events, and forums such as the participation in parades, festivals, school events and neighborhood association meetings
  • Represents Cartersville Electric System both internally and externally and cultivates relationships with key stakeholders to increase awareness and visibility of CES in the Community
  • Maintains active membership and participation in the local Chamber of Commerce
  • Effectively balance the diverse needs of Key Accounts, as assigned, so that the result is a consistently high level of communication, service and satisfaction to Key Accounts, and highly reliable and timely intelligence to Cartersville Electric System functions requiring the information

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:

  • Knowledge of electric service requirements, tariffs, rates and riders
  • General understanding of financial and economic analysis
  • General knowledge of City of Cartersville operations, energy and environmental policy issues, energy efficiency and renewables
  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used for electrical engineering, construction, and maintenance projects

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience directly working with external customers in a sales, marketing, or account management function
  • Experience with electric service, rates, and tariff and/or project management experience providing electric service to large customers
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work with various levels of local government, management, community groups, elected and business officials
  • Must have strong oral, written, and presentation communications skills
  • Must be efficient, organized and excellent at follow-through
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities and work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadline
  • The ability to read write, speak and understand the English language as necessary for the position; the ability to follow written and oral instruction; and be physically and mentally able to perform the essential duties of the position. Regular, consistent and predictable attendance is also required

 

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee must frequently lift light objects, occasionally lift heavy objects, climb ladders, use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity and be able to distinguish between shades of color. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in an office and outdoors. The work may require the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, hard hats or gloves
