JOB TITLE: Part-Time Field Maintenance Worker
 
PAY RATE: $16.50
 
DEPARTMENT: Parks & Recreation Department, City of Cartersville
 
JOB SUMMARY: This position works under the general direction of the Maintenance Supervisor. The Field Maintenance Workers are responsible for the day-to-day preparation and maintenance of all Cartersville Parks & Recreation athletic fields, courts, and/or gyms. This includes dragging, lining, painting, raking, cleaning, mowing and any other necessary work needed to get the facilities ready for play, practice or patron usage.
 
MAJOR DUTIES: 

  • Dragging playing fields.
  • Lining gyms, courts and fields
  • Maintain and clean recreational facilities.
  • Mowing and maintaining recreational facilities.
  • Raking recreational facilities.
  • Any other duties assigned.
 
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
  • Basic Understanding of athletics and recreational facilities.
  • Able to or willing to learn how to operate various equipment to maintain athletic/recreational facilities.
  • Must be able to drive vehicle and equipment in safe and safety conscious manner.
  • Must be able to work with others and able to take instructions/directions from supervisor(s).
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have a valid Georgia Driver’s License.
  • Must be in reasonably good physical shape.
  • Must be able to perform physical labor and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.
 
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Park Maintenance Supervisor assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions. Completed work is reviewed for compliance with instructions and established procedures, accuracy and the nature and propriety of the final result.

GUIDLINES: Include departmental and safety policies and procedures, material safety data sheets, standard maintenance practices, and supervisory instructions. These guidelines are generally clear and specific but may require some interpretation in application.
 
COMPLEXITY: This wors consists of varied general maintenance of department facility and repair duties. The variety of duties performed contributes to the complexity of the work.

SCOPE AND EFFECT:   The purpose of this position is to maintain Parks and Recreation Department facilities. Successful performance helps ensure a safe and comfortable environment for employees, program participants and park patrons.

PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typically with co-workers, volunteers/community service workers, vendors and the general public.

PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to exchange information and resolve problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, or crouching. The employee must lift light and heavy objects, climb ladders, use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity and able to distinguish between shades of color.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:   The works is performed indoors and outdoors, where the employees is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, contagious or infectious, diseases, chemicals, machinery with moving parts, and inclement weather. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary.
