Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center to Host Breastfeeding & Brunch Celebration

Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center to Host Breastfeeding & Brunch Celebration During National Breastfeeding Month
Free community event will connect families with breastfeeding resources, education and support

Cartersville, Ga. (July 17, 2026) — Piedmont Cartersville Lactation Services team will host Breastfeeding & Brunch on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon in Classroom 1 at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center providing a welcoming opportunity for expecting parents, breastfeeding mothers and local families to connect with resources and community support.

The free event is being held during National Breastfeeding Month and in recognition of World Breastfeeding Week, Aug. 1-7, 2026, a global initiative coordinated by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) in partnership with the World Health Organization and UNICEF. This year's observance highlights the importance of creating sustainable support systems for breastfeeding families. A hallmark of the week is The Big Latch On, a worldwide event that brings breastfeeding families together to show solidarity, raise awareness and celebrate the importance of community support.

"Breastfeeding & Brunch is an opportunity for families to gather, learn from experts and community partners, and connect with others who are on similar journeys," said Kelly Costner, Director of Perinatal Services at Piedmont Cartersville. "Whether you're expecting your first child, currently breastfeeding, pumping or simply looking for support and encouragement, we want families to know they are not alone."

The event will feature a light brunch, breastfeeding support and educational resources, opportunities to meet local community partners, door prizes and family-friendly activities. Babies are encouraged to attend.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about breastfeeding support services available in the community and connect with healthcare professionals and organizations dedicated to helping mothers, babies and families thrive. The event is open to those who are expecting a baby, currently breastfeeding or pumping, seeking support and encouragement, interested in connecting with other local families, or wanting to learn more about local breastfeeding resources.

Breastfeeding offers significant health benefits for both infants and mothers, and research consistently shows that strong support systems can play an important role in helping families meet their feeding goals. World Breastfeeding Week serves as a reminder that healthcare providers, family members, employers, community organizations and friends all have a role in creating an environment where breastfeeding families can succeed.

The event is hosted by Piedmont Cartersville Lactation Services in collaboration with community partners committed to supporting mothers, babies and families throughout their breastfeeding journey.
